OFFBEAT PLACES IN MEGHALAYA MUST VISIT

While two and a half decades in Meghalaya has not been enough and every time I find some new places to explore here, I’ve still tried my best to pen down a list of ‘OFFBEAT PLACES IN MEGHALAYA MUST GO’ places in the state. Enjoy for now and you can thank me later :p

1. Wei Sawdong, Sohra

This place is a few km ahead of Sai Mika Park, where you’ll also find Dainthlen Falls and a lot of picturesque spots for picnics, for quenching your wanderlust, or even just for the gram 😅

2. KrangShuri, Jowai

Meghalaya for a reason is known as the land of waterfalls and KrangShuri justifies it just right. Add it to your list on your next visit here and brace yourself, because this place will blow your mind.

3. Umngot, Dawki

Boats here flow in the air, not literally, but the crystal clear water gives you just that illusion. With campsites embedded on the banks, cliff jumping activities, and the spectacular view of the river, you’re sure to quench your adrenaline thirst whilst the shores calm your soul at the same time.

4. Mawphanlur, West Khasi Hills

If you’re someone who loves being on the road, this place is just for you. Roads smoother than butter and views of cascading hills, green paddy fields, and a fresh gush of air to rejuvenate you, a ride to the West Khasi hills in itself is a package. An icing on the cake would be to stay in Mawphanlur village, which has a river on a cliff top and is secluded from the din of the city. This place is just the getaway you need.

5. Mawryngkhneng, Pynursla

If you like to sweat your stress out, this super adventurous trek will give you a rush for sure. Once atop, the spectacular views make the super daunting trek absolutely worth it and you should not miss it for the world for a badass experience.
